National Conference "From Procedure to Real Protection: Justice that serves Children"

National Conference "From Procedure to Real Protection: Justice that serves Children"

The National Conference "From Procedure to Real Protection: Justice That Serves Children" was successfully held, with the participation and contribution of all the main institutions of the justice system, protection and ensuring of children's rights.

During the conference, the national study on the implementation of procedural rights for children in conflict with the law was presented, sharing important findings and concrete recommendations for improving the practices of investigation and adjudication of cases related to children in conflict with the law.

The discussions brought valuable perspectives on:

  • the importance of rigorously implementing procedural rights for children in conflict with the law by ensuring friendly processes and spaces during investigation and trial,
  • the need to continuously ensure, through initial and ongoing training, the capacity building of professionals on handling juvenile cases in criminal and civil proceedings,
  • the implementation of alternative measures to imprisonment,
  • the development of practices, programs and opportunities for the reintegration of children into the community.

Mrs. Elona Hoxha, Deputy Minister of Justice, said that children in contact with the law, whether they are victims, witnesses or accused, are individuals in a sensitive situation, where justice should not only be a procedure but protection, assistance and an opportunity to return to life.

We strongly believe that justice that serves children is the foundation of a strong, humane justice that protects the most vulnerable, a justice that builds trust and guarantees equal opportunities for every child to grow up with dignity and hope for the future.

Guaranteeing children's rights requires strong inter-institutional cooperation, joint commitment, and a willingness to change. Let's make justice for minors not a process but a promise for children!
