“Planting the Future”

 “Planting the Future”

“Planting the Future” symbolized the unification of efforts to protect nature and our national resources. This was the message that 40 young people from Dibra, Tirana, Elbasan, Cërrik, Fier, Lezha, and Kukës shared with their peers. Through their initiative and engagement, 1,000 Black Pine saplings were planted in the Lurë National Park. The initiative served as a positive example of promoting healthy social behaviour that strengthened cooperation between youth and central and local government institutions.

“Thank you that you choose to bring us in Lurë and through youth consciousness and concern for the environment this initiative contributes both to youth time and what you leave behind for future generations.-says David Muckenhuber Head of Regional Coordination Office for Albania, Montenegro and North Macedonia, at Austrian Development Agency.

Terre des hommes, the Austrian Development Agency, the Municipality of Dibra, the National Agency for Protected Areas, the National Forestry Agency, the Prefect and Chair of the Dibra Region, representatives from Trees for Lura, and local organizations joined forces to support the youth.

“It was wonderful to see peers and people gathered with the goal of doing something good for nature. I believe that we, as united youth, could have a significant impact both on nature and on our society,” said Ana, one of the young participants in this activity.

This activity was carried out as part of the "Youth Voice for Justice and Rights" project, with funds of Austrian Development Agency and ADC in Albania.
