Crafts Exhibition: Empowering Afghan Women Sheltered in Albania

Crafts Exhibition: Empowering Afghan Women Sheltered in Albania

These are the handicrafts created by girls and women from the Afghan community sheltered in Shengjin. These crafts were exhibited as part of an event aimed at empowering them and promoting their independence during the 16 Days of Activism against Violence against Women. The activity was attended by leaders of the local structures of the Lezha Municipality and partner organizations that work with the Afghan community. The purpose of the event was to support talented Afghan women in their entrepreneurial initiatives for the production of handicraft products. Many of these products were purchased by visitors of the exhibition.

Community Facilitator Sorosh Shiwa speaks of the women's passionate dedication to achieving these products within a short timeframe.
"For them, the interest shown in handicrafts is very important as it demonstrates an appreciation for their culture and traditions."

This activity was organized within the project "𝑅𝑒𝑓𝑢𝑔𝑒𝑒𝑠, 𝑒𝑠𝑝𝑒𝑐𝑖𝑎𝑙𝑙𝑦 𝑐ℎ𝑖𝑙𝑑𝑟𝑒𝑛 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑤𝑜𝑚𝑒𝑛, ℎ𝑎𝑣𝑒 𝑎𝑐𝑐𝑒𝑠𝑠 𝑡𝑜 𝑞𝑢𝑎𝑙𝑖𝑡𝑦 𝑠𝑒𝑟𝑣𝑖𝑐𝑒𝑠 𝑓𝑜𝑟 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑝𝑟𝑒𝑣𝑒𝑛𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑟𝑒𝑠𝑝𝑜𝑛𝑠𝑒 𝑡𝑜 𝑎𝑏𝑢𝑠𝑒, 𝑣𝑖𝑜𝑙𝑒𝑛𝑐𝑒, 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑛𝑒𝑔𝑙𝑒𝑐𝑡", implemented by Terre des hommes - Albania and Nisma për Ndryshim Shoqëror, ARSIS in partnership with UNICEF Albania and funded by the Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration (PRM) of the US Department of State.
