Improving the Reintegration of Children in Conflict with the Law, into Society

This project is a follow up of the already designed and piloted project of Tdh in 2019 in Tirana. It supports the reintegration of children in conflict with the law in Tirana, Shkodra, Vlora, Korca and Durres.

Goal

The overall goal of this intervention is to consolidate the actions taken during the first phase of the project to prevent the reoffending (recidivism) of children in conflict with the law in Albania and extend this good practice to other regions. To this aim, the capacities of competent bodies will be increased, firstly, to understand the relevance of re-integration services, secondly, to implement the designed model and thirdly, to enable the competent bodies in their role as facilitators in the reintegration process of children in conflict with the law by also involving their families & community in the program.

The project focuses on strengthening of relevant institutions’ capacities to deal with juveniles in conflict with the law fostering permanent socially accepted attitudes in juveniles.

Beneficiaries:

  • Juveniles sentenced with alternative to detention/ in probation service or those in detention/pre-trial detention in the Institute for Detention of Minors in Kavaja.
  • State and non-state actors (social workers, child protection workers, probation officers and civil society representatives) part of the capacity building program for the implementation of reintegration services for children in conflict with the law.
  • Probation Offices and Social Service Department of Municipality of Tirana, Shkoder, Vlora, Korça and Durres will benefit from the coaching sessions.
  • Family members, other community members who will become part of the program.
