At the end of the project "Sustainable Socio-Economic Re-Integration of Returned Migrants" financed by GIZ Albania, through the program "Migration for Development" DIMAK Albania, Terre des hommes have presented the work done over the years based on the three main aspects of intervention, more specifically:
• Improving access to social care services for the reintegration of vulnerable returnees,
• Long-term economic empowerment of vulnerable returnees, through concrete employment and self-employment opportunities and the development of their professional skills,
• Building capacities of professionals and key actors, to identify migrants, to provide qualitative services and interventions as well as to build sustainable strategies for returnees.
During the interview on the show "Invitation at 5 o’ clock" on the national Tv, Top Channel, Mrs. Enkelejda Kallçiu, head of the Country Office of Tdh, explained how the need for such a project arose:
"We can say that migration has had its own stages in Albania. From 2015 until now, we can consider it as a specific phase, since there were many Albanians who applied for asylum, mainly for economic reasons, and as a result, they were refused residence in the countries of the European Union. Therefore, in this period there has been an influx of needs and services, in the face of which the municipalities have needed more support to respond to them. In this respect, this phase of the project has coincided very well with the dynamics of the migration. Of course, with this project we cannot say that the migration issues are over. I think there are new dynamics already and there will have to be other projects and interventions to adapt to them."
