Social Work celebrates its 30-years in Albania, Kallçiu: We are Going to Stand by the Side of Social Workers Always

Thirty Years Social Work

Thirty years ago, it started a new profession in Albania: the social worker. To celebrate this important anniversary, a study was presented to the audience with some findings about the social worker job market, and its status after three decades. The study was conducted by Prof. Dr. Edmond Dragoti and Dr. Emanuela Ismaili, with the support of Terre des hommes and GIZ Albania, within the framework of the “"Sustainable Socio-Economic Reintegration of Returned Migrants in Albania"

The head of the National Office of Terre des hommes Albania, Mrs. Enkelejda Kallçiu emphasized the role of the organization in supporting professionals in the field:
"On this important anniversary for social work, Terre des hommes also celebrates the 30th anniversary of its presence in the country this year. During these three decades, we have been every year, alongside the social workers, providing training to build their capacities and we will continue to give this support not only in raising capacities, but also by increasing attention to these employees who take care of the vulnerable categories of the population."

According to this study, it results that the education sector has the highest number of employed social workers with 29%. The NGO sector also continues to remain an important employment sector for social workers with 14% along with Administrative Units.
