Afghan Refugees, Particularly Children and Women, Have Access to Qualitative Prevention and Response Services Against Abuse, Violence, and Neglect

The main objective of this project is to "support the existing national child protection system, in order to identify and support Afghan children/mothers with children at risk of violence, abuse, neglect and exploitation".

After the Taliban took over Kabul in mid-August 2021, the security situation in the country deteriorated and the need for resettlement became more urgent. The Government of Albania, through its Minister of Europe and Foreign affairs, expressed a readiness to temporarily host 4000 Afghan citizens considering Albania to be a transitory country for the destination US or Canada. Since the first plane landed on August 27th, all the service providers have been focused on meeting basic needs and emergency direct service provision, such as food, accommodation, hygiene, health care and clothes. Terre des hommes, Nisma and Plan and Go, supported by UNICEF Albania and financed by USAID, are interested in further developing a dedicated, anonymous, and culturally appropriate reporting channel for all occurrences of violence; and provision of immediate support services to survivors of violence, including referrals to statutory children protection and other relevant services.
