During 2018-2020, Terre des hommes Mission in Albania implemented the EU funded project Civil Society in Action to Build Restorative Approaches and Practices for Children and Youth in Contact with the Law.
Goal
Contribute to the respect for the human & children's rights of children and youth in conflict or contact with the law, through advancing the implementation of restorative approaches & prevention of imprisonment according to the new Juvenile Justice Code in Albania.
Specific Ojbectives:
- Build knowledge among key stakeholders of the restorative approaches in the new juvenile justice code by building coalitions, raising awareness of civil society, key stakeholders and target beneficiaries.
- Strenthen capacities of competent bodies & CSOs involved in juvenile justice to implement restorative approaches through a structured capacity building programme & development of guidelines for mediators, trainee prosecutors and judges, and CSOs.
- Enable CSOs to develop and implement restorative practices & programmes towards prevention of imprisonment by implementing a sub-grants scheme & establishing CSOs network.
Target groups:
- Children/youth in conflict or in contact with the law in the targeted areas
- Civil society organisations working in the target areas to promote and defend the rights of children/youth in conflict or in contact with the law
- Justice progessionals and Mediators
- Lawyers and Police Officers
- Psychologists, social workers & Chils protections workers
