The Global Community Engagement and Resilience Fund (GCERF), in collaboration with the Coordination Center for Countering Violent Extremism and its partners, organized an event on June 12th demonstrating the reintegration journey of women and children returning from North-East Syria. It was a real-life demonstration of resilience and transformation, demonstrating the impact of GCERF-supported programs. The event was co-organized by Terre des hommes Albania and our local partners Nisma për Ndryshim Shoqëror, ARSIS, Gender Alliance for Development Center (GADC) and Linja e Këshillimit për Gra dhe Vajza.
Participants had the opportunity to visit art, sports, macrame and soap making by the returnees. Near to the culinary corner, they were introduced to the inspiring story of a boy who now works as a pizza chef. These stories of hope and resilience further emphasize that a comprehensive and community-based approach is the right approach for countering violent extremism.
