On the International Mental Health Day, Terre des hommes Albania in collaboration with partners organised the inauguration ceremony of the Center for Psychosocial Welfare in Kukës. This center serves as a safe and friendly space, where the community has the opportunity to receive psychological support, individual and group counselling as well as awareness raising.
Terre des hommes in collaboration with Kukës Municipality will provide comprehensive services for children, youth, parents and the community, including:
psychological first aid
trauma-informed care
supportive counselling
psychoeducation and community awareness
Through the exhibition of paintings, the participants had the opportunity to get acquainted with the stories, emotions and reflections of young people. Based on these real stories, youth have shared the emotions of their peers and mothers, their obstacles and walks until the moment when they have found a place where they are heard, appreciated and can start rebuilding their lives. By taking individual and societal responsibility, challenges become easier to overcome.
"I am impressed by youth reflections. Such centers are important for the community, especially when this need comes from them. Such service models should be replicated throughout Albania" - says Ms. Seferi, Deputy Minister at the Ministry of Health and Social Protection.
The project "Establishment of Specialized Services - Kukës Multifunctional Center for Psychosocial Wellbeing" is implemented by Terre des hommes Albania in cooperation with the Municipality of Kukës, in the framework of the program "EU for Social Care. This program is funded by European Union Delegation to Albania, implemented by UNICEF Albania and World Vision Albania, in cooperation with Ministry of Health and Social Protection Albania.
