Conflict Management and Mediation Training for Professionals Working in Cross-Cultural Fields

Conflict is inevitable in any relationship, but learning how to navigate challenging situations can help you stay more connected than you were before the conflict occurred. This topic was discussed in the recent training specifically organized for 14 professionals from the city of Lezha. The participants represented various institutions including the State Social Service, the Local Police Directorate, the Probation Service, the Local Health Care Unit, as well as the organizations Nisma for Change, Arsis, and Terre des Hommes. 

During the two days, the participants reflected on several issues that sparked discussion, including:
•    The dual nature of the conflict, 
•    The influence of prejudices and stereotypes on the approach to conflict, 
•    The role of mediation, its principles, and how it can be applied. 
•    The significance of Restorative Justice and the circle of peace in this context. 

Each attendee had the chance to participate in exercise sessions and learn from professionals with experience in conflict management and the use of mediation in intercultural settings, particularly in dealings with refugees.
