Migration in the context of policymaking and the challenges that 6 municipalities of Lezha, Shkodra, Kukës and Durrës, Fier and Elbasan face daily were the focus of the discussions of the local institutions’ representatives during the workshop organized by Terre des hommes within the project "Sustainable social re-integration" - economic of migrants in Albania", financed by GIZ and implemented by Tdh.
During the brainstorming among colleagues, of the three municipalities, several challenges were identified such as:
• Treating migration as a national issue and in a strategic and comprehensive manner,
• More public information to citizens on public services that are currently offered,
• More effectiveness and comprehensive approach in the use of existing resources.
At the end of this workshop, the representatives gave some concrete examples of the case management in accordance with different categories of the returned migrants in Albania. The dynamic interaction between the municipalities’ staff proved to be useful on creating the synergy of cooperation between the 6th municipalities.
